We analysed 48,000 proposals sent through ProposalBolt in 2024-25. Here's what Indian freelancers and agencies are actually charging — and what wins.

Median project values by category

Web design & development: ₹1,25,000 | Mobile app: ₹3,50,000 | Digital marketing retainer: ₹45,000/month | Brand identity: ₹85,000 | SEO: ₹35,000/month | Content marketing: ₹25,000/month

Projects with higher-than-median pricing have higher win rates

Counterintuitively, proposals priced 15-20% above the median for their category had a 71% win rate vs 58% for those priced at median. Premium pricing signals quality. Clients who can pay premium don't want to hire the cheapest option.

The ₹50,000 psychological barrier

Projects under ₹50,000 close without much deliberation. Projects between ₹50,000 and ₹2,00,000 require the most follow-up. Above ₹2,00,000, buy-in often requires a video call before the proposal is even sent.

Deposit collection increases close rate by 23%

Proposals that required a deposit at signing closed 23% more often than those that didn't. The act of paying a deposit creates commitment. Always collect at least 30% upfront.
